11:28 P.M. UPDATE - FOX 8 received this news release from the New Orleans Police Dept. Wednesday night:
Homicide Detectives are investigating the fatal shooting of a 30-year-old man. The incident occurred around 8:30pm in the driveway of a residence in the 1600 block of Painters Street. The name of the victim is being withheld pending notification of family members.
Officers were called to the scene to investigate a "man down" and gun fire in the area. When officers arrived they found the victim in a driveway unresponsive. He'd been shot several times and was pronounced dead on the scene. The victim was in possession of a loaded pistol in his waistband as well as a large amount of narcotics. Investigators believe this was drug deal that turned deadly.
Investigators are currently in the process of gathering evidence and information to identify the person(s) responsible in this incident, as well as a motive.
Homicide Detective Andrew Waldron is in charge of the investigation.

Police are investigating two shooting incidents Tuesday evening, one of which left a victim dead.
NOPD reports the first happened around 8:20 p.m. at the intersection of Touro and North Villere Street. An unidentified male victim, age unknown, was shot several times and rushed to a nearby hospital, where he was last reported in critical condition.
The second shooting happened around 8:27 p.m. in the 1600 block of Painters Street. An unidentified male there was shot multiple times and died on the scene.
"We don't believe the two shootings are related," reads NOPD's brief advisory to news media Tuesday night.
