Teens accused in Marigny beating could be tried as adults

New Orleans, La.- Two teens accused of severely beating a man in the Marigny could end up in adult court.

Right now 16-year-old Brian Ellis and a 15-year-old boy are charged with aggravated battery, simple battery and attempted simple robbery.

But that could be upgraded to attempted second degree murder.

Police say the teens attacked a man near the corner of Chartres and Mandeville on March 10th. .

The victim required facial cosmetic surgery due to his injuries. He is now out of the hospital.

The district attorney's office requested that a judge find probable cause to move the case to adult court.

Tuesday the judge approved the request, but the move has not happened just yet.
