Grant will fund wetlands education

BATON ROUGE, La. (AP) - The LSU AgCenter's 4-H youth development program has received a $1.5 million, three-year grant to continue a wetlands-based curriculum for students and teachers in grades four through 12.

Funded by the Coastal Protection and Restoration Authority of Louisiana, the grant will allow teachers across the state to receive wetlands-based lessons, according to youth wetlands program manager Ashley Mullens.

The grant will also pay for wetland activities outside of the classroom, including field trips.
The LSU program began in 2007.
