Teams set for NCAA Women's Final Four in New Orleans

New Orleans, La. - Just days away from the NCAA Women's Final Four tournament, the teams are set.

Louisville, California, Notre Dame and Connecticut face off in Sunday's semi-finals in the New Orleans Arena.

Jay Cicero of the New Orleans Sports Foundation expects a good turnout of fans based on the teams. "Louisville, we're pretty excited about," he said.  "The men's team is going to be in Atlanta, but they have a big following for their women's team."

The Women's Final Four returns to New Orleans for the third time. This is the only city that has played host to the tournament that many times.

Cicero points out the big sporting event comes in the midst of a remarkable run of big sporting events.  "And we're going to continue to keep those events rolling into next year, with NBA Allstar game returning for a second time and then the Superdome is going to be hosting Wrestlemania next April," he said.

Just like those other big sporting events, expect a lot of action off and on the court with the women in town.

The events get started Friday evening at Mardi Gras World with the teams' arrival for the "Salute Premier."

All weekend, "Tourney Town," adjacent to the New Orleans Arena, offers up almost non-stop programming for fans and locals alike, with free concerts, a pep rally and more.
