NEW ORLEANS (AP) - A New Orleans court employee has been arrested on suspicion of soliciting bribes.
Orleans Parish District Attorney Leon Cannizzaro says Cassandra Johnson, head of the Criminal District Court Community Service Office, was arrested Thursday as part of a sting operation.
Cannizzaro said in a statement that Johnson allegedly accepted a cash bribe to falsify public records to "relieve a convicted criminal defendant of his obligations to the criminal justice system."
A spokesman for Cannizzaro's office said he couldn't immediately elaborate on the allegations.
Cannizzaro said Johnson's arrest is part of an ongoing investigation of "corrupt practices" at the court by his office and federal authorities. FBI agents accompanied investigators from Cannizzaro's office in arresting Johnson.
