Thousands pack New Orleans for the 2013 NCAA Women's Final Four

New Orleans, LA -- Thousands pack downtown New Orleans, as women's collegiate basketball takes center stage.

While the NCAA's Women's Final Four games are the must see, fans are getting an early taste  of the excitement at Tourney Town.

Tourney Town features concerts by national recording artists, fan favorites like the NCAA Women's Final Four Pep Rally and AT&T Mascot Challenge, performances by basketball skills entertainers, a talent show featuring local acts and celebrity judges, emcee-hosted fan contests for great prizes, appearance and autograph sessions with sports celebrities and sponsor based entertainment programming with fantastic giveaways.

While the Women's NCAA games are a big focal point, inside tourney town it's a basketball fan's dream come true.

There are basketball courts and youth clinics for all ages, and it's free.

"We have family events, a great atmosphere, we have a stage full of entertainment we have a million ways to win prizes," says Tourney Town Producer, Christa Scanell.

High school basketball coach, Eddie Michalkoa came from Lake Charles to see Tourney Town, plus to witness up close how far women's basketball has come.

"I really want to go in and sit in on one of their shoot arounds. It's just great to see the play getting that much quicker, that much stronger, and you're still watching a fundamental game," says Michalkoa. "You watch a boy game it's who's bigger, you've got to be fundamental all the way around."

The producers of Tourney Town estimate that 30,000 fans will visit here on the road to the Final Four.

Tourney Town has lots of events on hand for Sunday.

At 1:00 pm. there's a pep rally, followed by an appearance by Lisa Leslie and a mascot challenge.

Singer Taio Cruz will perform at 4:00 p.m.
