Results from Saturday's local elections


New Orleans, La - Voters from several area parishes took to the polls Saturday.

Residents in St. Bernard Parish voted in favor of adding to property taxes to fund the sheriff's department. The final results were 61% in favor to 39% against.

Voters in Gretna and Westwego went to the polls to elect new mayors. Belinda Constant won the race in Gretna defeating Vincent Cox III, 58% to 42%. In Westwego, there will be a runoff between John Shaddinger Jr. and Ted Munch.

Also in Jefferson Parish was the race for 24th Judicial District Court Judge. A runoff will take place between Scott Schlegel and Hilary Landry to fill that seat.

Voters in Orleans Parish took to the polls to elect a Juvenile Court Judge - Section E. That race will see a runoff between Doug Hammel and Yolanda King.
