Search for abducted children extends to Gulf of Mexico

Tampa, Fla. - The amber alert for two young children abducted last week in Tampa expands onto the water and the Gulf of Mexico.

Investigators now have reason to believe Joshua Hakken might be traveling on a 25 foot, Morgan sailboat with his wife and the two young boys.

Hakken is accused of abducting 2-year old Chase and 4-year old Cole Hakken from their grandmother's home.

Police say the sailboat is a 1972 Morgan with registration number FL3717BK. The boat has a blue hull and is named "Salty" with a picture of a paw near the back of the hull on each side.

It also has "St. Petersburg" in white lettering on the stern.

Hakken and his wife Sharyn lost parental rights to the children last week just before the abduction from the custodial grandmother's home.

Sharyn Hakken is also considered a suspect in the abduction.

The couple has a Louisiana connection, related to their arrest on drug charges in a Slidell hotel in June of last year.
