Kenner Paths to Progress groundbreaking

Kenner, La. - Crews started work on Monday on four new road resurfacing projects in Kenner.

In all, 16 streets will be rehabilitated in Kenner under a program called, "Paths to Progress."

DOTD Secretary Sherri LeBas described the program as, "a $90 million dollar emergency relief project that's fully funded 100% by the federal government."

The first projects include two segments of Roosevelt Boulevard as well as portions of West Metairie and Williams Boulevard.

Soon after that work gets underway, contracts will be going out for more Kenner streets including Vintage, Loyola and Chateau Boulevard.

"These streets are vital to the city as major transportation routes," said LeBas. "Repairs to these roadways will improve traffic flow, provide motorists with a smoother and safer ride, and enhance the quality of life for Kenner residents."

According to the state, construction activities, include resurfacing, repairing curbs and installing ADA-compliant accessible ramps, are expected to be complete this summer. The contract was awarded to Boh Brothers Construction, Co. for approximately $2 million.
