Man arrested for 4th DWI after running out of gas during police chase

New Orleans, La -- Lafourche Parish Sheriff's Deputies arrested a Golden Meadow man after he ran out of fuel while fleeing.

Police say that around 6:30 a.m. Monday, deputies responded to a disturbance on West 21st St. in Larose. On scene, officers located 33-year-old Anthony Leboeuf Jr. inside of a vehicle and asked him to exit. Leboeuf ignored the request and began to drive away, nearly striking a deputy. They gave chase as Leboeuf continued on West 21st Street, approaching Highway 1. Leboeuf eventually ran out of fuel after he turned onto West 33rd St. Shortly thereafter, he was taken into custody.

Officers located several open alcoholic containers inside of Leboeuf's vehicle. Deputies conducted a field sobriety test after they noticed the smell of alcohol on Leboeuf's breath. Leboeuf had a blood alcohol content of 0.083g%.

Leboeuf was arrested and booked with DWI (his 4th offense), aggravated flight from an officer, disturbing the peace by appearing in an intoxicated condition, open alcohol container in a motor vehicle, no seat belt, no insurance, and public intimidation.

Police learned that Leboeuf has a lengthy criminal history that includes 20 arrests since 1998.
