JACKSON, Miss. (AP) - Manuscripts and personal letters of the late William Faulkner, whose original writings are a rarity in the literary marketplace, can be viewed Wednesday at Sotheby's in New York - an event to whet the appetites of scholars ahead of a June auction.

They will be a collector's dream.

Justin Caldwell is a specialist in books and manuscripts at Sotherby's and says it's a treasure trove.

Sotheby's of New York will auction the Faulkner family's collection on June 11 and estimates the lot will fetch $2 million or more.

The University of Mississippi turned over the Nobel medal and Legion d'Honneur this past week at the request of Faulkner's grandchildren.
