Workers injured during building collapse in Treme


New Orleans, La. - A house collapse in Treme left four construction workers injured Wednesday morning, according to the New Orleans Fire Department.

It happened around 11:45am in the 1300 block of Governor Nicholls Street. The workers were attempting to raise the home when it collapsed.

Firefighters immediately performed a search to determine if anyone was trapped beneath the building. 

After determining that no one was trapped, firefighters assisted EMS with the treatment and transport of the workers injured on the scene.  Four workers were treated and transported to area hospitals. 

One worker sustained a shoulder injury and another suffered a broken arm. The nature of the injuries to the other two workers is unknown at this time.

The incident has been referred to the city's Department of Code Enforcement.
