New Orleans, La. - Hornets rookie Anthony Davis will not play again this season due to a knee injury sustained Wednesday night in Sacramento.
The team announced the decision Thursday night, disclosing a diagnosis of a sprained Medial Collateral Ligament and bone bruise in his left knee. An MRI did not reveal any additional structural damage.
The injury occurred halfway through the fourth quarter when former Hornets guard Marcus Thornton collided with Davis. For the year, Davis averaged 13.5 points, 8.2 rebounds, 1.8 blocks, and 28.8 minutes per game. He played in 63 games, missing action due to a couple different injuries.
