Residents learn about fate of Stonebridge Country Club

Gretna, La.- Westbank homeowners got some answers tonight about the future of Stonebridge Country Club.

Jefferson Parish Council member Chris Roberts says the owners of the country club told residents at a meeting tonight that the club may close in the next few months.

Roberts says Stonebridge owners cited a general lack of club participation and concerns about a nearby Army Corps of Engineers drainage project.

It involves a canal widening project that will impact part of the golf course near the corner of Gretna and Harvey Blvd.

Roberts says there are now less than a dozen people who are actual members of the club.  He says a few years back, the club went semi-private, meaning that people who aren't members can use the club and pay green fees.
