Four arrested for shooting of women, children in Harvey

Harvey, La. - Four suspects are in custody after an early morning shooting left five people injured including three small children.

The shooting happened around 5am at an apartment in the 2300 block of Lapalco Blvd. in Harvey.

Police say someone knocked on the door of the apartment claiming to be the police. When a resident inside opened the door, at least one suspect began shooting.

Three kids, all under the age of three, were shot along with two women in their 60s.

A 23 month old boy is listed in critical but stable condition. The two female children were taken to Children's Hospital.

Deputies apprehended four suspects after a chase across the Crescent City Connection.

Davante Robinson, 19, Charlie Gumms, 18, Frankie Hoofkin, Jr., 21 and Lashawn Davis, 20 face charges including attempted murder.

Jefferson Parish Sheriff Newell Normand says the suspects may also be connected to other crimes being investigated including other shootings.
