New Orleans, La. - New Orleans police are investigating a shooting that killed two men and injured a child Tuesday in Mid-City.
At 5:50 p.m., police received a report of shots fired in the 4000 block of Baudin Street. When they arrived, officers found two men with multiple gunshot wounds to their bodies on the porch of a home near the corner of S. Pierce Street. They died at the scene. Family members said both victims were in their mid-20s.
An 8-year-old boy was also found shot in the stomach and arm. He was taken to University Hospital, where he is listed in stable condition. It is unclear if he is related to either of the other victims.
Witnesses said two men in hoodies walked up to the porch, opened fire and then fled on foot. The men returned a short time later and got into a red vehicle with dark tinted windows.
"We think after the shooting the two men with the hoodies came back this way, turned left, and got into a red van, possibly a Chrysler red van, drove to Canal Street and then fled," said NOPD Superintendent Ronal Serpas. "This is clearly, clearly something where we need the people's help."
Anyone with information about the shootings is asked to call Crimestoppers at (504) 822-1111. Callers can remain anonymous and may be eligible for a cash reward for information that leads to an arrest.
