New Orleans to get $370,000 in unclaimed property

NEW ORLEANS (AP) - State Treasurer John Kennedy says his department will return of $370,266 in unclaimed property to the city of New Orleans.

Kennedy made the announce Wednesday at a meeting of the New Orleans Rotary Club.

Kennedy says the property includes 474 different items that had been turned over to the state throughout the years from various companies.

One example included a utility refund owed to the city from South Central Bell in the amount of $58.07.

Over the past 10 years, Kennedy's department has returned over $196 million to over 192,000 Louisiana residents.
