Bait bike lures in suspected thief

New Orleans, La.- Investigators in New Orleans reel in a suspected thief, using a bicycle as bait.

According the NOPD, the 6th District Task force placed a "bait bike" at a spot along the St. Charles Avenue corridor. A short time later, they say a man hopped on and rode off towards Carondelet Street.

What the bike rider didn't know was a surveillance team was watching his every move, and radioed his description to police who caught up with him at Clio and Carondelet.

Police identify the suspect as 43-year-old Henry Eurings, a homeless man. Investigators describe him as a registered sex offender with an extensive criminal record.  Officers booked Eurings with the theft of the bicycle.

Police often use specially equipped "bait cars" to catch car thieves.
