Drug charge against former Missouri, VooDoo player

GONZALES, La. (AP) - A former football player for Missouri and the Arena Football League's New Orleans VooDoo is accused of possessing eight pounds of marijuana with intent to distribute it, and of illegally possessing a gun.

The Advocate reports that the Ascension Parish Sheriff's Office says 27-year-old Brian K. Coulter, of Baker, was booked Wednesday and in custody Thursday awaiting a bond hearing.

Deputies say drug agents with the sheriff's office, Baton Rouge Police Department and federal Drug Enforcement Administration arrested Coulter Wednesday in the parking lot of a Gonzales business.

The VooDoo website says Coulter spent most of the 2012 season on injured reserve and was not signed in 2013.

He played football for Pearl River Community College in Poplarville, Miss., and at the University of Missouri in 2008 and 2009.
