Bridge City, La -  The Jefferson Parish Sheriff's Office blames fireworks for a scare outside a Bridge City church on Sunday afternoon.  An explosive device went off in a parking lot of the Iglesia Pentecostes Church in the 100 block of 12th Street at around 1:00 Sunday afternoon.

The ATF and JPSO are now trying to determine who set off the device.  Col.. John Fortunato with the JPSO says they interviewed a person possibly involved in the incident, but so far, he nor anyone else has been charged in the case.  Fortunato says the man was involved in an altercation with a staff member of the church over parking at the church.

The blast startled residents in the Bridge City neighborhood. Most residents were inside their homes when they say, they heard a loud noise. "It sounded like something huge hitting the ground," said resident Jessie Litomisky.

Johnny Bearden added, "We just heard an explosion kinda like a transformer or something like that."

No one was injured as a result of the blast, and no property damage was reported, although pieces of debris were scattered across the lot.

Fortunato says the matter remains under investigation.
