Kenner police probe early morning shooting

FOX 8 received this news release from the Kenner Police Dept. Monday afternoon:

The Kenner Police Department is investigating an early morning shooting that was discovered at 31st & Panama Street, in Kenner.

At approximately 0318 hours, Monday, April 29, 2013, the Kenner Police Department responded to a traffic crash complaint in the 3000 block of Phoenix Street, in Kenner. A person contacted the Kenner Police Department reporting that a vehicle had struck a fence. As officers were responding to the location; additional calls were received reporting that an individual had been shot.

Responding officers arrived on scene, and located a 2008 Chevrolet Impala which had crashed into a fence. Inside, the vehicle they found 24 year old; Alcee Jones, of Kenner, inside the vehicle. Jones had been shot multiple times. Jones was transported to a local hospital where he remains in critical condition. At the time of this email, no motive or suspect has been identified.

Chief Steve Caraway urges anyone with information concerning this incident to call Kenner Police Detective David Stromeyer at (504) 712-2214 or Crimestoppers at (504) 822-1111. Detective Stromeyer is in charge of the investigation.
