Corps of Engineers to start levee inspections

Updated:

New Orleans, La.- The Carrollton River gauge is at nearly 12 feet prompting the Army Corps of Engineers to activate levee inspections.

The Corps says it will work with local levee authorities to monitor the levees along the Mississippi River this week.

The inspections will continue twice a week, until the water level at the Carrollton gauge drops below 11 feet.

The Corps says these increased patrols help to detect and respond quickly to any problems that could develop because of higher water levels.
