Chalmette, La.- St. Bernard deputies booked a man with DWI and nine counts of vehicular negligent injury after a school bus accident Tuesday afternoon.
The bus was loaded with seven students from Joseph Davies Elementary School in Meraux. None of the students were badly hurt, so they were released to their parents or guardians.
Investigators say a vehicle driven by Roy Nunez slammed into the back of a car that had stopped behind a school bus on East St. Bernard Highway at Mumphrey Road. The bus had stopped to drop off students.
Andreau Naquin was driving the car, which was forced under the bus. She was taken to St. Bernard Parish Hospital.
"The impact forced the auto that was hit to go under
the bus, requiring extrication of the driver of that vehicle," says Sheriff James Pohlmann in a news release.
Pohlmann says the woman was not believed to be seriously injured.
