Baton Rouge, La. - LSU entered Tuesday night's home contest against McNeese State with their first losing streak of the season; they emerged with a 7-3 win, rejuvenated bats, and a fresh pitching staff.
The Tigers chipped away at the Cowboys through the first five innings and held a 3-0 lead before putting up four runs in the bottom of the sixth to put the game out of reach. JaCoby Jones and Christian Ibarra each had three hits and an RBI.
Coach Paul Mainieri sent Hunter Newman to the mound first where he pitched three innings of scoreless ball. Six other pitchers would see action on the night Taylor Butler sustaining the only earned run, to go with the save.
Third ranked LSU is back in action for a Thursday-Friday-Saturday series against Florida (25-20.)
