Man injured following plane crash in Abita Springs

New Orleans, La - The Federal Aviation Administration is investigating a plane crash that left one man injured. The accident occurred Wednesday around 10:00 a.m. at The Abita Springs Airport located off of Highway 36.

According to a St. Tammany Parish Sheriff's spokesperson, the Cessna plane attempted to take off, towing a banner. Quickly after taking off, the plane crashed back down on the runway. Fire crews arrived on scene and transported the man to St. Tammany Hospital. Police say that the man did not appear to have life-threatening injuries. There were no other individuals on board with the man at the time of the crash.

The investigation into the incident continues.
