FOX 8 received this news release from the New Orleans Police Dept. Wednesday night:

NOPD Homicide detectives have arrested a man they believe committed two murders last year, a month apart.

Officers picked up 23-year-old Isaac Jones yesterday afternoon and booked him with the Second Degree Murder of 25-year-old Jeremy Curry. Curry was shot multiple times and left for dead on August 4th in the 8600-block of Gervais Street.

And today, Jones was booked again, with another count of Second Degree Murder. He's also accused of gunning down 31-year-old Teron Crawford on September 5th in the 3000-block of Audubon Street.

Numerous members of the community came forward in both cases to provide information to detectives which greatly helped in identifying Jones as the triggerman in both murders.

Isaac Jones has been previously arrested for Illegal Carrying of Weapons, Resisting an Officer, Illegal Use of a Weapon, Aggravated Battery, Possession of Marijuana 1st and 2nd Offense, Driving on a Suspended License and various Traffic Warrants.

'Our Homicide detectives worked very closely with several of our residents in both of these tragedies and collected enough concrete evidence to identify this suspect. As always, we appreciate the relationship we have with the people of New Orleans, and are a better Department because of it,' said Superintendent Ronal Serpas.

'This was yet another situation where a dangerous person was freely roaming our streets, when his illegal weapons charges of the past clearly indicated that he was a threat to the safety of our community.'
