New Orleans, La.- A new report highlights the value of New Orleans' cultural economy.
The report released by Mayor Mitch Landrieu indicates the cultural sector accounts for more than 32,000 jobs, almost 14 percent of the city's workforce. That is an increase of 7 percent over 2011 and represents $1.1 billion in wages.
The "2012 New Orleans Cultural Economy Snapshot" divides the cultural economy into six segments: culinary arts, design, entertainment, literary arts and humanities, preservation and visual arts and crafts.
The report boast a 5 percent increase in cultural businesses in New Orleans in the last two years.
