#3 LSU edges #19 Florida in game one of their weekend series

New Orleans, La. -

Baton Rouge, La. - The #3 LSU Tigers baseball team edged #19 Florida Thursday night 3-2 in the first of a three game series in Baton Rouge. Ty Ross plated the game winning run with a bases loaded sacrifice fly in the bottom of the 8th inning.

LSU improves to 41-6 on the season while Florida slips to 25-21.

Left handed sophomore Cody Glenn (6-1), who did not appear in last weekend's series loss against South Carolina, got the team off to a solid start. Glenn gave up both Gator runs, but forked 6 2/3's effective innings, spreading out five hits and fanning 6 along the way.

Jacoby Jones homered in the game for LSU for his only hit of the game. Alex Bregman, Mason Katz and Christian Ibarra had two hits each.

8-0 right hander Aaron Nola gets the ball for LSU in game 2. First pitch is slated for 6:30 at Alex Box Stadium.
