Kenner police arrest LaPlace man on murder charge

FOX 8 received this news release from the Kenner Police Dept. Friday evening:

At approximately 09:55 a.m., Friday, May 03, 2013, the Kenner Police Department responded to a shooting outside Performance Automotive, located at 2416 Connecticut Avenue, in Kenner. It was there Kenner Police discovered the body of Shane Vicknair, 27, of River Ridge. Investigating detectives learned that Vicknair was involved in an argument with a black male driving a blue Chevrolet pickup truck.

Hours after the murder, the driver of the above pickup; identified as Roger Batiste, 75, of 122 Batiste Lane, LaPlace, contacted the Kenner Police Department through his attorney and surrendered himself at the Kenner Police Department. The gun allegedly used during the shooting was also relinquished by the Batiste's attorney. Batiste has been charged with the crime of second degree murder. At the time of this press release Batiste remains in custody, no bond has been set. Motive appears to be a verbal argument that escalated.
