Tebow named Forbes' Most Influential Athletes of 2013

The people have spoken, voted, and selected Forbes' Most Influential Athlete of 2013. Interesting choice: mind you, four-time NBA MVP Lebron James didn't even make the top five.

The winner is (insert small imaginary drum roll here)... Tim Tebow, recently let go by the New York Jets and currently seeking gainful employment in the NFL.

29 percent of the people polled gave Tebow their nod.  Amazing: Tebow apparently has 2.2 million followers on Twitter, and counting.

Multiple gold medal Olympians Michael Phelps and Usain Bolt finished second and third, respectively. Derrick Jeter of the Yankees was next, followed by Peyton Manning of the Broncos.

Saints quarterback Drew Brees was sixth on the list, but his "awareness quotient" of 31 percent has him right up there with the others.

Forbes says Brees is "riding a long-time rep as a good QB and a good guy. Brees will always be remembered as the one who led post-Katrina New Orleans to its first Super Bowl title."
