FOX 8 received this news release from the St. Bernard Sheriff's Office Friday afternoon:

The St. Bernard Parish Sheriff's Office is asking the public's help in finding a 79-year-old Arabi woman with dementia, who disappeared Thursday, May 9, about 3 p.m. after getting off a public bus on St. Claude Avenue in Arabi and may have been going to New Orleans, Sheriff James Pohlmann said.

Shirley Clouatre, who lives with family members on Benjamin Street, is missing and anyone who knows her whereabouts should call the St. Bernard Sheriff's Office at (504) 271-2501.

Clouatre, who had been at the Council on Aging center in Chalmette, rode a St. Bernard public bus to Arabi and got off about 3:05 p.m. in the 6900 block of St. Claude, near the New Orleans line, the sheriff said.

A bus driver said she mentioned she may be heading to New Orleans and asked for directions to board a bus that would take her into the city, which she was given.

The woman, who was dressed in a dark blouse and dark pants and is about 5-foot, 4-inches and weighs up to 200 pounds, hasn't been seen or heard from since getting off the bus, the sheriff said.
