Highway lanes closing for floodgate work

BELLE CHASSE, La. (AP) - Plaquemines Parish officials say southbound lanes of Louisiana Highway 23 will be closed several times during the coming week at the Oakville floodgate.

The closings are needed while the gate is being reinstalled and tested.

The southbound lanes will close at 7 p.m. on Monday and are expected to reopen at 6 a.m. on Tuesday. Another closing is planned for 7 p.m. on Wednesday with the road expected to reopen at 6 a.m. on Thursday.

Police will direct traffic through the site while those lanes are closed.
