NEW ORLEANS (AP) - A family struggle for control of one of New Orleans' best-known restaurants is in the hands of a federal judge.

U.S. District Judge Susie Morgan didn't immediately rule Tuesday after hearing arguments from lawyers for two competing factions of the family of Owen Edward Brennan, the late founder of Brennan's.

Ted Brennan and his daughter, Bridget Brennan Tyrell, sued Ted's brother, Owen "Pip" Brennan, after he called a shareholder meeting in April to vote on removing them as directors.

Ted and his daughter claim they have been in sole control of Brennan's since Pip sold his shares two years ago.  Pip, however, claims he is entitled to maintain his voting authority because he hasn't been fully compensated.

Brennan's is famous for inventing the Bananas Foster dessert six decades ago.
