Mason and Emma top most popular baby names in Louisiana

Washington, D.C. - The Social Security Administration has released its list of the most popular baby names in Louisiana for 2012.  Emma and Mason topped the list. 

 

The top five boys and girls names for 2012 in Louisiana were:

 

            Boys:                                       Girls:

            1)  Mason                                1)   Emma

            2)  Jayden                                2)   Ava

            3)  William                              3)   Isabella

            4)  Noah                                  4)   Olivia

            5)  Liam                                   5)   Chloe

 

Other names that made the top ten list in Louisiana include the following boy names: Michael, Ethan, Joshua, Aiden and Elijah.  Among girls, the top ten list includes the names:  Sophia, Madison, Aubrey, Abigail and Brooklyn. Carolyn W. Colvin, Acting Commissioner of Social Security, announced last week that Sophia and Jacob were the most popular baby names in the U.S. 

In addition to each state's top baby names, Social Security's website has a list of the 1,000 most popular boys' and girls' names for 2012 and offers lists of baby names for each year since 1880.
