New Orleans, La.- Police say officers from NOPD's Sixth District Task Force pulled over a car for a broken tail-light and wound up with a much bigger case.

Police say the driver, 20-year-old Jawan Fortia, stopped near the corner of Thalia and Magnolia Streets, but then tried to get away from the officers.  They caught up with him, and as they walked toward the car, the officers say they noticed the two passengers, 20-year-old Shawn Gracin and a 16-year-old boy, behaving suspiciously. The officers also smelled marijuana.

Inside the car, officers found more than marijuana in plain view. They say there was a fully loaded handgun on the back floorboard and another handgun under the front passenger seat. Investigators say it turned out both guns had been stolen in the New Orleans area.

Police say since Fortia had no driver's license or insurance, his car was confiscated. Fortia, Gracin and the 16-year-old juvenile were all booked with carrying illegal firearms, possession of stolen firearms and drug violations.
