Arrest made in Gentilly church fire


New Orleans, La.- New Orleans Police arrest a 36 year old man accused of setting a Gentilly church on fire.

According to the New Orleans Fire Department, firefighters responded Sunday to a fire at the Kingdom Hall church located at 4411 Congress Street in Gentilly.

A man was caught on camera pouring a combustible liquid onto the bottom of both front doors of the church and setting it on fire.

Sunday morning services were in progress at the time with 148 members in attendance.  Several church members extinguished the fire before firefighters arrived on the scene. Church members followed the man as he walked away from the scene until police officers arrived to make the arrest.

The New Orleans Police Department arrested the man about one block from the church. The man's name was not released.
