New Orleans, La. - Showers and storms headed into the area along a weak cold front. The system has triggered heavy showers and frequent lightning which is moving in and continuing into the afternoon.

Clouds and rain should keep high temperatures in check. The will only reaching the low 80s and if you're under a shower, temps could drop into the 70s.

By later this evening, most of the rain should be ending with a few lingering showers possible. Some clearing overnight, but expect another warm and muggy night.

Drier Thursday with high temperatures returning to the mid and upper 80s. A slightly less humid air mass looks to settle over the area for the weekend. Sunny skies and still warm, but drier air should allow morning temps to reach the 60s.
