Trainor new chief deputy in St. Tammany

COVINGTON, La. (AP) - St. Tammany Parish Sheriff Jack Strain has a new chief deputy.

Strain's office announced Friday that Brian Trainor will replace former chief Tim Lentz, who retired this week.

A Louisiana Army National Guard veteran, Trainor's education includes a bachelor's degree in criminal justice from Southeastern Louisiana University and a law degree from Southern University. He has been a legal adviser to the sheriff and deputy chief of corrections in St. Tammany since 2010.
