3 dead, 2 injured in early Sunday morning crash

St. Charles Parish, La.- Police are investigating an early morning crash Sunday that killed three people, including a pregnant woman.

It happened shortly before 2 a.m. on US 61 at LA 627 in St. Charles Parish.  

Investigators say 40-year-old Jennifer Englade of LaPlace was driving a 2006 Pontiac G6 northbound on US 61 and for unknown reasons crossed the raised median, entered the southbound lanes of travel and was struck on its right side by a 2001 Honda Civic.

Romishe Mejia-Fequier, 23, of Harvey was driving the Honda Civic.  

Police say Englade was wearing a seat belt and was transported to the hospital.  

Mejia-Fequier was pronounced dead on the scene. 

The front seat passenger of the Pontiac, 29-year-old Joshua Jones of Sulphur was ejected from the vehicle and pronounced dead on the scene. He was not wearing a seatbelt.

The front seat passenger of the Honda, 20-year-old Mejia Medena Harvey was wearing a seat belt and sustained critical injuries.

The right rear passenger of the Honda, 20-year-old Esther Centeno of Bridge City who was pregnant was pronounced dead on the scene.

Police say speed and impairment are suspected as factors of the crash and blood was drawn from Englade pending toxicology analysis. Impairment is not suspected for Mejia-Fequier, however, toxicology results are pending an autopsy.  

The crash remains under investigation and criminal charges are pending.
