Search continues for missing swimmer

New Orleans, La. - The search continues Wednesday for a 21 year-old who went missing in Lake Pontchartrain after jumping in to help a friend who was struggling in the water.

The NOPD, NOFD, and Coast Guard resumed the search Wednesday morning after suspending operations Tuesday evening.

Crews are searching 300 yards along Lakeshore Drive near UNO and 1,000 yards out into the lake.

Search crews are also checking a nearby outfall canal and underneath the steps of the seawall.

Cadaver dogs are also on scene.

Police have identified the missing swimmer at 21 year-old Keswany Chavez.
