Winning Powerball ticket sold in Texas

Baton Rouge, La. - Some lucky person in Texas is a whole lot richer, following Wednesday night's Powerball drawing. A lone ticket, purchased in the Lone Star State matched all six numbers drawn for the multi state $40-million jackpot. That means the jackpot returns to $40 million on Saturday.

In Louisiana, the state's lottery corporation reported no winners of the major jackpots for Powerball, Louisiana Lotto or the Easy 5 drawing. Wednesday's $675,000 Louisiana Lotto jackpot goes up to an estimated $725,000 on Saturday. The Easy 5 jackpot of $50,000 goes up to $60,000 for Saturday.

In addition to the jackpot winner in Texas, two ticket holders matched 5 numbers, winning $1 million each. Those tickets were purchased in Florida and Texas.

This means the Powerball jackpot has been won two drawings in a row.

On May 25, three tickets split the $50 million jackpot and 9 others won at least $1 million. And on May 18,  a Florida ticket holder won the Powerball record jackpot of $590 million.

The last time Powerball had back-to-back winning jackpots was in 2007 when it had three straight winners.
