Bogalusa, La. - A former NOPD officer turned himself in to deputies Wednesday afternoon after he allegedly raped a woman in Washington Parish.

Investigators says Jermaine Lacour was working for a cable service provider when he showed up at the woman's house to install her television service.

Police say after Lacour finished the work, the woman wrote him a check. The woman told investigators, as she tried to hand the check to Lacour, he exposed himself.

Police say Lacour then proceeded to physically attack and violently sexually assault the victim. They say, at one point, he seemed to get scared and fled from the residence.

"He left behind boxes, old cable wires and different things, so it appears to me he left in a hurry," says Detective Raymond Myers with the Washington Parish Sheriff's Office.

Lacour turned himself in just hours after a warrant was issued for his arrest.

Lacour was released from the NOPD last year. As a 7th District police officer, he was arrested on charges of illegal use of a weapon and disturbing the peace during a domestic dispute.
