Pair arrested in Kenner home burglaries

Kenner, La. - The Kenner Police Department has arrested two suspects in reference to a pair of residential burglaries and attempted residential burglaries that occurred on Chateau Trianon & Chateau Pontet-Canet.

On June 4th, Kenner Police received a telephone call from a victim reporting that his stolen iPod Touch, which had been stolen in a residential burglary on Chateau Pontet-Canet, had been activated.

The victim was able to track the device to the 4200 block of Connecticut Avenue.

Detectives conducted a canvass of the area and located 18 year-old Telvis Maryland and 17 year-old Shelby Picou in possession of the stolen iPod.

A search of the residence on Connecticut Avenue yielded additional property valued at over $20,000 taken in the other reported residential burglaries. Police also found marijuana and drug paraphernalia.

Maryland was later identified by a witness as the person who had committed the residential burglaries by or forcing entry into homes taking IPOD's, cell phones, and jewelry. He stored the stolen property at Picou's residence.

Telvis Maryland has been charged with simple burglary of an inhabited dwelling, possession of stolen property, possession of marijuana, and prohibited acts (drug paraphernalia).
