Police have arrested the son of U.S. Senator Mary Landrieu.

Frank "Connor" Snellings was booked with several charges, including DWI, hit-and-run and driving the wrong way on a one-way street.

FOX 8 received this news release from the New Orleans Police Dept. Thursday evening:

Shortly before 3am this morning, Eighth District NOPD officers arrested 21-year-old Conner [sic] Snellings.  Snellings was driving in the wrong direction on Bourbon Street, struck a pedestrian and failed to stop.  He was eventually stopped by officers near the corner of Bourbon and St. Louis Streets.  The pedestrian received minor injuries.  Snellings failed a field sobriety test.  A breathalyzer test result measured .211.   Snellings was booked with Driving While Intoxicated, Hit and Run, Wrong Way on a One Way Street and Failure to Maintain Control of a Vehicle and Possession of Alcohol in a Vehicle.  Snellings' passenger in the vehicle was arrested and booked with Open Container in a Vehicle and Public Intoxication.

The senator from Louisiana released a statement, saying "We love our son wholeheartedly, but we are extremely disappointed by his irresponsible actions last night." She asked for privacy while her family and her 21-year-old son deal with the serious consequences.

Snellings was released on bond.
