Man found shot in Treme overnight

NEW ORLEANS, La. - A man was found shot multiple times in the Treme neighborhood early Sunday morning, police said.

Officers found the man lying face up in the middle of the street at 2:45 a.m. at the intersection of St. Ann and North Dorgenois streets, according to New Orleans Police Department spokesman Officer Frank Robertson III. He was taken to the hospital, where he later died.

The name of the victim is being withheld until family members can be notified.

Robertson said an investigation is ongoing and no further details are available.
