Mandeville police arrest moving company owner for extorting customer

Mandeville, La. - Mandeville Police have arrested the owner of "Mr. Move" moving company and charged him with Extortion and Unauthorized use of a Movable.

A spokesperson with the Mandeville Police Department says an investigation was launched in May when a female complainant claimed that the "Mr. Move" Moving Company of 3725 Airline Drive in Metairie was withholding her possessions in ex-change for a grossly inflated bill.

The victim reported that her previous quote of approximately $700.00 was raised to over of $2000.00 without any justification and only after the movers secured her property on their truck.

After reviewing the facts and conducting an extensive back-ground investigation, detectives deemed this incident to be criminal as opposed to a civil dispute over a bill for services rendered.

The company's owner, 45 year-old Dunwoodie McDuffie, was taken into police custody. The investigation is ongoing.
