Orleans sheriff outlines plans for prison evacuation

New Orleans, La. - Orleans Parish Sheriff Marlin Gusman says barcoded armbands tracking inmates are part of his hurricane preparedness plan.

Gusman detailed his prison evacuation plans at a Wednesday morning news conference.

Gusman says the sheriff's office will rely on other agencies for help in the event they have to evacuate the parish's 2,300 hundred inmates.

He says buses would leave early and stay off the interstates to avoid traffic.

They would be trailed by a mobile kitchen to keep everyone fed.
