NOPD probes homicide in Leonidas

FOX 8 received this news release from the New Orleans Police Dept. Friday evening:

Homicide Detectives are investigating the fatal shooting of a 30-year-old man. The victim was found earlier this evening around 2:25pm, in the rear yard of a residence in the 8800 block of Willow Street.  

Officers were called to investigate a "man down" in a rear yard of a residence. When officers arrived they found the unresponsive victim.   He had been shot multiple times and was pronounced dead on the scene.

Witnesses in the area observed a Silver 2013 Honda SRV bearing Louisiana plate number WWE 919 fleeing the scene at a high rate of speed. This vehicle is believed to be driven by the suspect(s).

Investigators are currently in the process of gathering evidence and information to identify the person(s) responsible in this incident, as well as a motive. 

Homicide Detective Andrew Waldron is in charge of the investigation.
