CBD traffic opens up a bit after movie production

Updated:

FOX 8 received this news release from the New Orleans Mayor's office Monday evening:

Traffic lanes have reopened on several Central Business District streets that have been closed for filming of the major motion picture Dawn of the Planet of the Apes, the City of New Orleans announced today. Production wrapped on the downtown set last week. One lane has reopened to vehicular and pedestrian traffic in the 100 and 200 blocks of South Rampart Street, the 1000 block of Common Street, and the 1100 block of Tulane Avenue.

Traffic will be limited to one lane for the next three weeks to facilitate set removal. All lanes will reopen to traffic and parking restrictions will end on July 12.

All street closures and detours are marked by signage and uniformed police officers are on duty daily to assist with efficient traffic flow.

A traffic plan with maps and alternate routes for downtown traffic can be found at www.nola.gov/film, the home page for Film New Orleans in the Mayor's Office of Cultural Economy....
