New Orleans, La. - New Orleans Special Victims investigators released a computer generated sketch of a man wanted for the aggravated rape of a 14-year-old girl in Algiers. Detectives say the man attacked the teenager as she walked in Behrman Park Friday night around 9:15.
Investigators describe the attacker as between 16 and 19 years old, 5'7" tall with a medium to athletic build. They note that his left eye appears smaller than his right eye. At the time of the attack, he was wearing a purple, short-sleeved shirt with gold writing, black basketball shorts and Nike slippers.
The park is a busy spot for walkers. It's also home to a playground, pool and football field. One woman told FOX 8 she's surprised to hear about the attack.
"I never hear about that kind of stuff in this area happening so hearing about something like that to happen is really scary," she says.
Special Victims Section Detective Damita Williams is handling the investigation and can be contacted at 504-658-5537. Anyone with information can also contact Crimestoppers at 504-822-1111.
